Last month we shared construction photos of Villa Mountain Road for the first time. Now we already have a new update of this project… Check out these new pictures of Villa Mountain Road! As you can see the roof is coming along nicely. We’re really happy with how the house interacts or fits into nature and is becoming part of the landscape.
The house sits atop a steep slope, at the foot of Mount Scenery – which is the highest point of the Dutch kingdom. To ensure that the building remains stable and can withstand a hurricane or storm, we have placed a large water tank under the house.
About the design
The height difference gives you different points of view. The clients wanted as much living space as possible in the house on the top floor, to make optimal use of the beautiful view. Despite the steep slope, the villa is connected to the garden. We have designed stairs from the road and from the house that will lead to the garden, as you can see on the pictures that we took during our visit in May 2024. Nature is an important inspiration for our design and also for our clients. They have recently planted the plants in the garden.
The design is inspired by a stylized barn, recognizable by a pointed roof. The facade is made of a local stone, as we also did at the Fire Station on Saba. Currently they are working on the construction of the villa, which is done locally and also partly done by the clients. They hope to finish the house this year.
