We have some special news. Our colleague Maya de Ridder is going on an adventure in Zambia. In September, she will start a project with ProjectsNow, an organization that focuses on improving conditions in local communities, where she will work on education projects in the Bbakasa and Noomamba areas.
Maya will volunteer for two months to expand a primary school. She will design a dormitory and teacher housing, and she will also help with the construction of the Bbakasa Science Laboratory. With these additions, the primary school can be upgraded to a secondary school (Grade 12). The goal is to provide more children with education and make the existing building more accessible.
By helping the school build classrooms and teacher housing, ProjectsNow ensures that the government can help with providing staff and materials. Together with the teachers, they work on further improving the quality of education, so that the chance that students can continue their education (secondary school) increases.
