We are excited to share new images showcasing the construction progress of the Laboratory in Willemstad. Since celebrating the milestone of reaching the highest point in May, the project has made significant strides. The photos, taken in early September 2024, provide a glimpse of the remarkable advancements achieved over the past months.
In these latest images, you can see that most of the structural work is now complete. The focus has shifted to finishing touches, both inside and outside the building. The facade is beginning to take on its final appearance, and interior spaces are shaping up beautifully with detailed work underway. Simultaneously, the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems are being installed. These systems are essential to ensuring the functionality and sustainability of the laboratory, aligning with the project’s high standards.
We are pleased with the progress and look forward to sharing more updates as this innovative and future-ready facility nears completion.
About our design
We’ve designed a cutting-edge laboratory in Willemstad, where innovation meets sustainability. Sustainability is at the heart of our design. We’ve insulated the roofs and facades to minimize heat, installed sun blinds to limit direct sunlight, and incorporated water recycling from both the roofs and air conditioning systems. Solar panels cover the rooftop to generate energy, and the cooling system is future-proofed for potential deep-sea water cooling.
On the inside, the focus is on connection—between both people and nature. All laboratories, except pathology, are centralized on the second floor to foster collaboration and share resources. The interior is designed for comfort and productivity, with fresh air circulation, ample daylight, and serene central spaces featuring wooden ceilings and greenery. Staircases encourage movement, and balconies offer fresh air, while spacious areas support spontaneous interactions and easy access for large equipment.
