Pakhuis de Zwijger and Centre of Expertise for Creative innovation are organizing a new workshop series developed around the theme ‘Designing Cities for All’.
Together with inspiring guest speakers, they will interactively investigate the role of designers in shaping and creating cities for, by and with everyone. Lyongo Juliana will be one of the guest speakers at the workshops.
The first workshop is on 26 April. Lyongo will talk about designing spaces, systems and products that cultivate a sense of belonging.
This workshop series is specifically aimed at teachers (researchers). There are three different workshops:
- Workshop #1: ‘Design for Belonging’ on June 8
- Workshop #2: ‘Designing with All’ (participatory design) on June 15
- Workshop #3: ‘Designing a just Future’ (date to be determined)
The workshops are part of a extensive program by Pakhuis de Zwijger. In 2021, Pakhuis de Zwijger’s two-year Designing Cities for All program started with support from the Creative Industries Fund NL. This program focuses on the role of designers in shaping and creating cities for, by and with everyone. In this programme, researchers, designers, artists, architects and policymakers have jointly explored various themes around superdiversity (the changing population of cities), exclusion by design (exclusion mechanisms in design processes) and inclusive design (inclusion in design processes) in the urban context. All this has been brought together in the Dossier Designing Cities For All.
